ASEAN summit 2017 targets to expand & deepen relations with partners

Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc yesterday led a working delegation to join the 31st ASEAN summit (ASEAN-31) and related meetings in Manila capital of the Philippines.

The visit was made at an invitation of Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.

In the journey, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Vietnamese delegation will participate in the 31st ASEAN summit (ASEAN-31); ASEAN+3 summit with China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK); ASEAN+1 summit with China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, the United States of America, Canada, European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN); the 12th East Asia Summit from November 12- 14. 

Particularly, the 31st ASEAN summit and related meetings which are officially opened at Philippine International Convention Center in Manila capital, focus on orients and measures to strengthen as well as realizable vision of ASEAN community by 2025. 

The presence of the Vietnamese delegation at the ASEAN summit and related meetings contributed to tighten further solidarity in ASEAN region, promote major role of ASEAN, expand and deepen relationships ASEAN and its partners, create favorable environment for stable development each country, raise position of Vietnam in the region… 

As scheduled, 55 instruments will be signed and approved in the conferences. Of these, the leaders will sign one instrument, approve 25 ones and receive 20 others.

Philippines will also issue nine declarations from the Chair of the summits
