$450.7 million allocated for building HCMC-Moc Bai expressway

The Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway will be built under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) format with estimated cost of VND10,456 billion ($450.7) million, as per a the project management board’s proposal to the Ministry of Transport.

According to the proposal, the 53.5km Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway project starts at the intersection of the road no. 15 and the Ring Road 3 in Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City and will end by connecting to Highway 22 in the southern province of Tay Ninh.
The project consists of two phases. The first phase from HCMC to Trang Bang with the length of 33 kilometer will be a complete four-lane highway with the width of 27 meters and the speed of 120 kilometer per hour, while the second phase will build a four-lane expressway with the width of 17 meter and the speed of 80 kilometer per hour.
To facilitate the project construction, site clearance will be carried out in the first phase in the area of 342 hectare.
According to the initial estimation, the cost of the first phase would be VND10,456 billion including VND5,413 billion of social contribution and VND5,043 billion from the province’s state budget for site clearance while VND2,177 billion will be cost of management and ODA will be for construction and consultation.
It is expected the project will be approved in 2020 and it would be completed in 2025.
