Police chief of Bac Tu Liem district in Hanoi Colonel Nguyen Thanh Tung yesterday said that police would not prosecute the woman who had hand and foot cut off in a failed insurance scam.
He added that this is the first time police officers had handled an insurance scam. Police decided not to prosecute her because she did not receive any money from insurance company.
However, the woman will be issued an administrative fine for “Informing false news to relevant agency”. The man who was hired to cut off her hand and foot will receive penalty for “Intentionally injuring other” after police take her for the wound level.
The woman from the northern province of Tuyen Quang. She has two children. Last year, she received 8 month sentence for prostitution brokerage.
