Police discover large smuggled medicine warehouse

After a long time investigation, the Investigation Police Department on Economic, Corruption-related Crimes and Smuggling (PC03), Market Management Board and local police officers in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday raided a house in Quan Su Street in District 11 detecting thousands of illegally imported medicines.

Through probe, the owner of the batch of medicine is Doan Quang Tuan, born in 1992. Tuan confessed to illegally import the medicine to sell to pharmacies in districts in HCMC to earn profit.
Investigators said the medicine batch includes 20 different kinds without clear indication of origin. Most of medicines are treated heart diseases, bone diseases, diabetes in children and adults.
The batch of smuggled medicine is worth around VND2 billion ($86,185).
Police officer seized all medicines for further investigation.
