Initially, police kept 380 employees in the ring who were hired to work for the gambling ring for approximately CNY3,000 ($436) a month
These young employees were assigned to operate the ring’s websites, helping other Chinese citizens participate in such forms of online gambling as sports betting and lotteries. They worked in shifts around the clock and were restrained from getting out of the urban area.
Police also confiscated nearly 2,000 smartphones, 530 various computers, multiple bank cards, an amount of cash and other exhibits.
According to police, this has been considered the largest gambling ring so far in the country in terms of both the number of foreign suspects involved and the total value of wagers.
The venue was built ten years ago covering 43 hectares and includes premium apartments, villas, five-star hotels, commercial centers, entertainment areas, schools, and hospitals, all of which meet international standards.
However, most people have resided in the city within five years are Chinese nationals. The local authorities said that non-residents were prevented from entering the venue.
