Police arrest knifepoint robber in HCMC

Police in Tan Phu District in Ho Chi Minh City today announced to arrest daylight robber who held a knife to force an employee of a store to transfer an amount of money for him.

Police hunted the robber and arrested him when he was hiding in Phu Nhuan District. 25-year-old Vu Viet T. in Phu Nhuan District had held a knife to rob a store of Viettel in Thach Lam Street in Tan Phu District on July 30 when a 28-year-old female employee was alone at the venue.
The 28-year-old female employee of Vietel store was working in the store on July 30, the suspect arrived at the facility on his motorbike and asked to transfer VND50 million (US$2,150) to an account, but because there was not enough money in the account, the female employee couldn’t fulfill the request.
The man left the store but returned about 30 minutes later asking to use the transfer service again with just VND10 million ($430).
While the female employee was conducting the transaction on the computer, she was attacked at knifepoint as the robber headed around to the girl back, held a knife to her throat.
The female employee tried to resist the attack wrestling against the robber until the knife fell down on the floor. The robber was quick to flee away the store on his motorbike while the woman chased after him crying for help.
