The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has brought in new control regulations on bear breeding centers, with updated specifications, by which bear breeding centers across the country must register with forest rangers within 18 months of the new regulations taking effect.

Authorities will slap a penalty on any bear breeding center that continues to operate without updating registration and will seize bears in these centers to release them into wildlife preservation areas--in case any center does not comply.

According to the ministry, in order to register for breeding bears, breeding centers have to show the legal origin of the bears and the animal’s identity must be filed along with having it implanted with a micro tracking chip.
