Customs officers at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has seized 2.78kg of cocaine worth VND20 billion (US$944,064), said its representatives.
The powder weighed 2.78kg in the luggage of a 28 year old Russian woman is cocaine. The cocaine was hidden sophisticatedly in the luggage and personal clothes.
Dapirka Maria, 28, had zipped through six countries with the cocaine before arriving Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Police continue investigating further.
Under the Vietnamese Penal Code, those who are indicted for producing or selling 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal narcotics are given the death sentence.
Capital punishment is also applied to those who are convicted of smuggling more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine.
