French woman caught with 57,000 EUR at HCMC airport

Customs officers confiscated 57,000 EUR (US$73,680) from a French woman at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on March 5 because she failed to declare it, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department said.

Customs officers confiscated 57,000 EUR (US$73,680) from a French woman at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on March 5 because she failed to declare it, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department said.

Customs said they discovered Patel Rita, 31, was carrying 62,360 EUR in her handbag during check in for Hong Kong flight FM838.
 
The customs officers let her keep the legal undeclared amount of 5360 EUR and temporarily confiscated the rest, the department said.
 
On the same day, customs officials at Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh Province confiscated 14 laptops, worth an estimated VND200 million (US$10,500), which were being imported without a declaration.
