Five arrested for wrongdoings at Ben Thuy Shipyard

The Investigation Police Agency in Ha Tinh Province has arrested five persons for intentionally violating State regulations leading to severe economic consequences from wrongdoings at the Ben Thuy Shipyard under management of the Vinashin Group.

They had wrongly established, assessed, approved and implemented two projects at the Ben Thuy Shipyard which led to losses of upto VND1 trillion (US$48 million).

The five arrested include 54-year-old Tran Quang Vu, former director of the shipyard and head of the projects’ management board; 50-year-old Vo Quang Vinh, deputy director general of Vinashin Investment and Construction Company; 40-year-old Le Dinh Trinh, deputy director of Consultancy Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company.

The two others accused are 45-year-old Nguyen Van Linh from Construction Joint Stock Company No.21 and 33-year-old Nguyen Cao Cuong from Nghe An Oil and Gas Company and former head of the projects’ management board.
