A company in the central city of Da Nang is facing a fine of VND700 million ($30,094) for illegally discharging wastewater into local sea.

The Environmental Protection Agency under the Da Nang City Natural Resources and Environment Department yesterday announced Kim Long Nam Company was caught red-handed discharging wastewater into the sea.
Environment inspectors discovered during construction, the Tower CT1&2 – Da Nang Times Square project invested by Kim Long Nam Joint Stock Company to release wastewater directly into the sewer system through four plastic pipes with a diameter of 144mm at 5:00 PM on August 6.
Soon, inspectors made a report and submitted to the Son Tra District People’s Committee which will issue punishment to the violator.
This violation can face a fine of around VND700 million ($30,094), said Mr. Le Quang Nam, Director of the City Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
Competent agencies have invited the company owner for further investigation.
Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho ordered a harsh punishment on violator as illegal discharging wastewater makes bad impact on the city’s tourism environment.
