The Ministry of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs (MoLISA), Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Viet Nam May 25 issued a code of conduct to prevent sexual harassment at work.

The issuance of this code is to help remove the legal loopholes and complete the present law in preventing the sexual crime.

It is applied in state and private enterprises. It is compiled as the Labor Code adopted by the National Assembly in 2012. The Ministry and related agencies while editing the code have study other available reference codes in the world.

As per a study of the Ministry under the support of ILO, most victims of sexual harassment in Vietnam are female laborers aged between 18 to 30 years old. However, their culture and the fear of losing jobs have prevented many of them from reporting the crimes.

Sexual harassment could not only result in emotional and physical stress for the victims, affecting their job performance, but also reduce productivity and competitiveness of business.
