The 34 teams will work in co-ordination with traffic and crime police forces and help intensify patrolling along streets and areas where robbers and pickpocketeers usually operate such as Thu Duc, Binh Tan and Binh Chanh Districts.

Earlier on November 23, the City Police set up a scheme to fight criminals operating on streets and harassing innocent citizens and tourists.

The police are also asking owners of pawnshops, jewelry shops and motorbike accessory shops to inform their local police department of any unusual or suspicious trade. Anyone intentionally dealing in such dubious trade will face strict penalties or consequences.

From December 1-19, the City Police uncovered 188 criminal cases and arrested 260 offenders.
