Customs officials uncovered and seized 220 sets of air conditioners illegally imported through Cat Lai Port in Ho Chi Minh City August 14.
Two containers of the air conditioners were imported by Kiet Nhi Production and Export Ltd, from the Mekong Delta Province of Long An.
In the customs declaration, the company staff listed a total of 410 sets of Pananext 9,000 BTU air conditioners, worth US$37,000.
Suspecting the quantity of the air conditioners, customs officials examined the lot, with the witness of the company representative, and found that the two containers in fact contained 630 sets of the facilities, which are 220 sets higher than the number in the customs declaration.
