The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Hai Phong police officers are working with their Chinese counterparts on the extradition of these suspects across the border.
Hundreds of police officers on July 27 raided Our City urban area and kept 380 employees in the ring who were hired to work for the gambling ring for approximately CNY3,000 ($436) a month.
These young employees were assigned to operate the ring’s websites, helping other Chinese citizens participate in such forms of online gambling as sports betting and lotteries. They worked in shifts around the clock and were restrained from getting out of the urban area.
Police also confiscated nearly 2,000 smartphones, 530 various computers, multiple bank cards, an amount of cash and other exhibits.
According to policemen, it is international criminal ring in disguise of foreign investors into Vietnam. This has been considered the largest gambling ring so far in the country in terms of both the number of foreign suspects involved and the total value of wagers.
The extradition is being conducted pursuant to a treaty signed by Vietnam and China. Related article:
