Vietnam offers sympathy to India over firework accident

Vietnam was very sad about the recent firework-related accident in India’s southern Kerala state which claimed hundreds of lives and injured dozens of others, stated Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh on April 10.

“We share the sorrow and great losses of the Indian Government, people and families of the victims,” Binh said in reply to reporters’ query on Vietnam’s response to the explosion.

The spokesperson n oted that t he Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in India to promptly verify whether there are any Vietnamese victims in the accident.

The embassy announced that there has been no information on damage to Vietnamese citizens so far, he added.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh extended his condolences to Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj over the losses caused by the accident.
