At the meeting with the ambassador, the chairman highly appreciated cooperation relations between Vietnam and Norway in general, between Ho Chi Minh City and Norway in particular through outstanding developments in previous time but it is also not commensurate with their potential cooperation.

Last year, two-way trade turnover between HCMC and Norway was only at US$ 55 million. Ho Chi Minh City attracted 24 investment projects from the partner with US$ 90 million , ranking the 23th among 101 countries and territories invested in the locality.

The city leader desired that the Norwegian ambassador would contribute further bilateral trade cooperation and investment ties during her working term in Vietnam.

Ambassador Grete Lochen said that the two countries have a long coastline so the Norwegian enterprises want to learn about cooperation opportunities with Vietnam in maritime economic development. In addition, Norway is very interested in the fields of renewable energy including solar energy, building a smart urban area.
