Taiwan-Vietnam joint venture company awarded First Medal of Labor

Taiwanese-Vietnamese venture company Phu My Hung was awarded First Medal of Labor for its contribution to Vietnam’s development in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

This is the second time the company receives First Medal pf Labor. On behalf of State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of the city Le Hoang Quan granted First Medal of Labor to the company in the awarding ceremony held on Saturday.

The company set up in 1993 was a venture between Ho Chi Minh City’s state-owned company Tan Thuan Industrial Development and Taiwan’s Central Trading & Development Group (CT&D).
 
 The company has developed a mangrove region in the south of the city into a modern and prosperous urban area within 20 years. The new urban area in south Ho Chi Minh City was a successful project and a symbol of the Vietnam’s investment attracting policy in Doi Moi (Renovation) period.

South Saigon master plan won the Prize of Best Urban Design by American Institute of Architects in 1997.
 The company has also contributed VND 200 billion the charity activities and created 50,000 jobs for local inhabitants.

The new urban area in the south of the city is called Phu My Hung urban area by local people and has been chosen by foreigners who are working and living in the city.

The school named after the founder of the Phu My Hung urban area Lawrence S. Ting was inaugurated in 2008 by the company. A memorial fund named after Mr. Ting  was also established in 2005 to support  disadvantages people.

In the awarding ceremony, members of the company were also granted Medal of Labor.

Standing member of the company’s Member Council Mrs. Ba Dah Wen, who was its second general director was awarded Second Medal of Labor. 

President of the Member Council Mr. Ting Kwang –Hung and Vice President of the council Chang Gayle Shinming and two vice general directors Nguyen Buu hoi and Truong Quoc Hung were awarded Third Medal Labor .

General Director  Gary Seng was granted the Merit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
