‘Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign’ wraps up

A closing ceremony of the ‘Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign’ was held at Dam Sen Park in Ho Chi Minh City on August 12.

The event also honored and gave certificates of merit to organizations and individuals who made outstanding contributions during the campaign.

More than 100,000 youth volunteers took part in the campaign in 24 districts in the city and neighboring provinces during the summer.

They carried out many works such as planting 82,000 trees, improving the scenery around the Saigon River and canals, and inducting 252 youth union members into the Party.

Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee highly appreciated the volunteers’ achievements and encouraged them to continue to contribute towards the growth of the country and city.

On the same day, thousands of youth volunteers and youth union members took part in the 2012 Youth Volunteer Festival.

The event included many activities such as a charity walk in District 7, in which 10,000 people participated, a No-Smoking Day, improving accommodation for workers in Nha Be and Binh Chanh Districts, and raising funds for children of soldiers who are protecting the country's sovereignty on the Seas and Islands.
