Mr.Dinh La Thang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and member of Vietnam's Politburo and Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien yesterday liaised with several hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City on building some facilities.

The mission team led by Health Minister Tien checked construction procedure of Children Hospital, medical clinic in Binh Hung Hoa Ward in District Binh Tan, the General Hospital in District Binh Tan, Hoa Lam-Shangri-La High-tech  Medical Zone and the Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital in district 5.

Secretary Thang questioned contractor of the building procedure of the Children Hospital in Binh Chanh District as it has been under construction since December 6, 2014 and is planned to complete on June 6, 2016.

The hospital is designed to have 939 beds with one basement, one division of infectious disease; transformer station and other units; however, the work is in the middle of construction and it seems not be able to finish on time as per the contract.

Project managers and contractors blamed for hiccups along construction procedure such as bureaucracy;  yet Secretary Thang asked to speed up the progress to reduce overloaded hospital.

Upon the food safety, Secretary Thang proposed the municipal Department of Health to be responsible for the matter. Currently, three departments manage the problem. There has been no regulation that department of health is responsible for food safety; accordingly, Mr. Thang said that the municipal Department of Health should be the first volunteer in the matter.
