During a working session with HMC City’s officials on January 24, Jose Kaiser Moreiras, Director General for International Trade and Investment Department under the MEIC, stressed his country has experience in technology application, constructional design, transport infrastructure development and relevant consultancy.

HCM City needs to plan a comprehensive metro line system, he said, adding that the connection of inner-city metro lines will bring many benefits to the community.

The metro line No. 5 – the first phase, is a priority project as it will serve as a transit system among other lines in the city.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen affirmed HCM City’s determination to develop metro lines, including metro line No. 5.

The locality needs a lot of capital for these projects, he said, expressing hope the Spanish side will continue to support the city in the work.

Metro line No. 5 has total investment of 1.56 billion EUR (1.94 billion USD). Its first phase has a total length of 9km, including 7.46 km of underground track and 1.43km of elevated trails.
