Smart city project to speed up HCMC development: City Party Chief

Being the country’s economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City determines to develop smart city project to speed up its growth, said Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan at the inauguration ceremony of the city’s new socio-economic forecasting and simulation center yesterday.

The highlight of smart city is to issue accurate forecasts about foreseeable problems to help city leaders to avoid difficulties as well as decision-making mistakes.
The city’s new socio-economic forecasting and simulation center plays a significant role in smart city project, Party Chief Nguyen Thien Nhan said.
He believed that the center will mobilize contribution of intellectuals in the country and with other centers in the world as well as artificial intelligence in forecasting and simulating for HCMC’s development.

The center is one of important pillars in the smart city project in addition to a common-use shared database, an information security center, and a smart administration center.
In the first phase, the center under the HCM City Institute for Development Studies will analyze and forecast socioeconomic growth –related matter.
Collected information will be provided for city leaders so that they can easily grasp and evaluate the data, thereby solutions for traffic jams and inundation will be handled more properly, said Mr. Nhan.
In short-term, Mr. Nhan asked the center to provide socio-economic results of 2020 to 2025 to report in the next Party Committee’s meeting by October.
