Thousands flocked to Can Gio District since the afternoon. Many people had to paddle canoes to reach the site, creating a lively ambience on the territorial waters of the district.

The largest crowds came to the centre of the city to watch the spellbinding fireworks display at Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2. This year, only low-range fireworks were set off in Dan Sen Park in District 11, so only the local residents and some visitors came to watch the display in the park.

The centre of the city was the best location to view the display, where many Vietnamese and foreigners gathered to enjoy the country’s big holiday.

The government is focused on practicing thrift as a means to curb inflation, so this year the fireworks displays were limited to only three locations as compared to last year.
