Photo competition of flower market launched

The Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association and the People’s Committee in District 8 launched a photo competition about Tet flower market themed “ Tren ben, duoi thuyen”( Above is a harbor, under is boats).

Through the language of photos, the competition will depict the city’s specific cultural features in the traditional lunar New Year (Tet) which is considered as the most important annual celebration in Vietnam.

Photos should describe jubilant, cozy, or spontaneous moments of these days before Tet celebrations at flower market in Binh Dong Harbor along Tau Hu canal.

The competition is open to amateur, professional photographers and photography lovers both in and outside the country. Authors can send photos taken in 2014, 2015, 2016 to the organization board and 50 excellent entries will be selected for an exhibition.

Each photographer can send maximum of 10 photos in two categories of colorful photo or black and white photo. Entries can be submitted via email at lienhoananhchohoatetq8@gmail.com or to Culture House of District 8 at 141-143 Hung Phu Street.

Awards include one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and ten encouragement prizes in cash, totaling VND40 million ($1,773). Entries should be sent before February 26.

The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 10.
