Over VND32.3 billion spent on taking care of needy people

The Ho Chi Minh Charity Women Association in Ho Chi Minh City has mobilized financial supports of VND32,3 billion (US$1,434,765) for taking care of feeble and lonely seniors, disabled people and disadvantaged children for 5 past years, the association reported at the sixth congress for 2015-2020 term.

The Ho Chi Minh Charity Women Association in Ho Chi Minh City has mobilized financial supports of VND32,3 billion (US$1,434,765) for taking care of feeble and lonely seniors, disabled people and disadvantaged children for 5 past years, the association reported at the sixth congress for 2015-2020 term.

At the meeting, the association reported that it has supports disabled people and lonely seniors, sponsoring centers in the city as well as provides charity meals, free medical check-up and drugs to the poor.

Additionally, the association also gave winter clothing to people in the highland provinces, built charity houses and bridges, launched “ Cay mua xuan” ( Spring Tree) program to take care the poor’s Tet holiday ( Lunar New Year), sponsored social centers, presented more than 1,770 scholarships, uniform, textbooks and bicycles to students from low-income families.

The association targeted to mobilize VND32 billion for charity activities and run 15-18 free vocational classes and course for needy young people.

On the occasion, 6 people were awarded Second and Third Labor Medal and Certificates of Merit signed by the Prime Minister. The city People’s Committee and the association also gave Certificates of Merit to 66 individuals and collectives that actively partook in charity programs.

Ms. Doan Le Huong was elected as the new president of the association in the period 2015-2020.
