One more arrested on bribery charges related to reporter

Ho Chi Minh City Police on Tuesday detained Nguyen Duc Dong Anh, a brother-in-law of Tuoi Tre journalist Hoang Khuong who was detained Monday for being charged of giving bribes to a traffic policeman during his investigation of bribery by traffic police.

Anh was born in 1989 and is living in Phu Nhuan District.

Nguyen Van Khuong, the Tuoi Tre reporter with the penname Hoang Khuong, was allegedly involved in the bribery case of Huynh Minh Duc, former officer of Binh Thanh District’s traffic police division.

According to the police, in June 2011, Khuong gave VND15 million (about US$720) through Ton That Hoa, director of Duy Nguyen Private Enterprise, to Duc in order to have him release a motorbike that had been held in an illegal motorcycle race on streets.

The user of the motorcycle is Tran Minh Hoa. After traffic police held the bike, he asked Khuong’s brother-in-law Anh to help him get it back rapidly. Then Anh asked Khuong to help.

According to the police, in the case, Duc, who had been detained, faces charges on taking bribes and Ton That Hoa was charges of bribery brokerage.
