Needy students receive free bus tickets for Tet

Ho Chi Minh City continues to support poor students by giving them free bus tickets to return their homeland on occasion of Tet holiday ( Lunar New Year).

The Ho Chi Minh City Students Assistance Centre said that it has 1,000 bus tickets available for students from low income families and ethnic minority students who can not afford tickets to return home on special holidays.

Le Xuan Dung, the center’s deputy director said that free bus tickets are part of the program “ Chuyen xe mua xuan- Tet sum vay” ( Spring buses – Gathering in Tet holiday) which has been maintained for years, aiming to support disadvantaged students.

In 2016, the center and Suntory PepsiCo Beverage Company have planned to give 5,000 tickets to students. After considering, the center management board decided to give additional 1,000 bus tickets to students in the central provinces such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien – Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh , Phu Yen, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan and students from the central highlands provinces including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Mekong delta provinces of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.

The center also offered jobs for students during Tet holidays. As if, 3,200 jobs are available now and 1,300 students who staying in the city, not be able to celebrate Tet's holidays with their families, get the jobs. The center will prepare a program and gifts to welcome Tet for these students.
