A mass wedding for 100 low-income couples was held in Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown areas by the Youth and Worker Assistance Center of the city’s Communist Youth Union Committee yesterday morning.
The wedding was organized formally with all cultural features. Couples are workers, teacher, soldiers, laborers and disabled living in the city and South East provinces.
Paying only VND 1 million (US$ 48), each couple enjoyed free marital services, including bridal gowns and suits, rings, make-up, bouquets, camera, coupons, pillows, dairy products and cars.
In addition, the couples received free healthcare and nutrition consultation as well as training on keeping marriage on track.
In the early morning of the day, the 100 couples offered flower bunches and burned incense at Uncle Ho’s statue and released 70 pairs of pigeons which symbolize the 70th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day with message of peace and happiness.
After that, the couples rode bicycles through streets in HCMC and came to Melisa Wedding Center in Tan Phu District where their wedding ceremony officially took place.
