Vietnam’s Prime Minister has asked the Ministry of Finance to provide 12,550 tons of rice to disadvantaged people in five provinces of the country on occasion of Tet Lunar New Year.
Accordingly, Cao Bang Province will receive 500 tons of rice, Nghe An Province to get 9,000 tons, Quang Ngai Province to get 800 tons, Lao Cai Province 250 tons and Ha Tinh Province will receive 2,000 tons.
Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, visited and extended Tet greetings to staff and students of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Vocational Training Centre on January 11.
The chairman expressed appreciation of the contributions made by the teaching staff in caring for disadvantaged children of the city and neighboring provinces.
On the same day, he expressed his gratitude to the entire staff of Gia Dinh People’s Hospital for their responsibility and commitment to the medical practice. Mr. Quan also visited the family of soldier Tran Cong Minh assigned on Truong Sa Islands.
The Vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee paid a visit and extended Tet greetings to the staff of Go Vap Centre, the Tumor Hospital and Orthopedic Trauma Hospital on January 11.
Earlier, Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, chairwoman of the municipal People's Council, greeted authorities of Long An Province and Tu Du Obstetric Hospital.
Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee cooperated with Saigon Trading Group and Mobilization Board for the Poor in Districts 5 and 10 to offer 300 Tet gifts worth VND400,000 each to disadvantaged people in Cu Chi District on January 11.
On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Fund for Support of Workers and Kraft Foods International handed over 1,440 bus tickets to employees returning home for Tet Lunar New Year.
