Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh boost cooperation

At the talks, Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan highly appreciated the Cambodian delegation’s visit to broaden opportunities for exchanges in various fields between the two sides. He also congratulated the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) that won a sweeping victory in a Senate election, and hoped the CPP will achieve a victory in the upcoming General elections.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized the two countries organized a series of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, strengthening the good neighbourly relationship in 2017, including the State-level visit to Cambodia by Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in last July and a visit by the high level delegation from Ho Chi Minh City led by City Party Leader Nguyen Thien Nhan in January, 2018.
He said that Ho Chi Minh City will launch promotional programs to support Phnom Penh in coming time, such as offering scholarships, boosting the construction of Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital, creating advantages for Khmer ethnic minority people of Vietnamese origin who are living in Cambodia and among.
For his part, Khuong Sreng affirmed Phnom Penh has seen the value of keeping the focus on maintaining a steadyrelationship with Ho Chi Minh City. After the meeting. the two sides agreed to enhance exchanges and cooperation in traffic, environmental protection and administrative reform.
