Ho Chi Minh City hopes to cooperate with Japanese universities

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong visited Tokyo University of Science in Suwa. He said Ho Chi Minh City plans to build a 22,000 ha creative urban areas,  serving one million residents, as a boost to economic development in the city and the entire southern key economic zone.
Mr. Phong hoped that the Japanese university will support Ho Chi Minh City in building the project and provide connection programs in the fields of scientific research and business management training to Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) and University of Economics - Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).
The delegation also visited Matsumoto Dental University in Shiojiri that has recently seen a significant number of Vietnamese students. At a working session with Matsumoto Dental University, the HCM City’s mayor believed the university will have a growth in Vietnamese enrolments.
He had a working session with the association of production promotion of Suwa. The Ho Chi Minh City leader said that with the high growth rate, the city is regarded as an ideal investment destination.
According to the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), more than 70 percent of Japanese businesses want to expand their operations in Vietnam, showing the local authorities’ efforts in improving investment environment and creating best conditions for investors.
He said that Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a trade-finance-science and technology center of Southeast Asia hoping to attract investors in fields of urban infrastructure, high-technology agriculture and smart city projects.
Earlier, Chairman Phong and the Ho Chi Minh City delegation also visited Mikuro Spring Co. Ltd. manufacturing micro spring; and parts and accessories manufacturer, Komatsu Seiki Kosakusho Co. Ltd.
