HCMC Sales Promotion Month Fair kicked off

The 2015 Sales Promotion Month and Promotion Fair kicked off at Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in city on August 28, aiming to stimulate consumption demand and boost the ‘Vietnamese consumers give priority to Vietnamese goods’ campaign.

Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of HCMC Nguyen Thi Hong cut ribbon to open the event.

The event organized by the HCMC Department of Trade and Industry not only helped consumers choose and use Vietnamese products but also creat a chance for businesses to introduce their goods to local consumers.

More than 2, 000 domestic firms registered to participate in the program at 6,200 retail outlets across the city.

On display were many Vietnamese products in the fields of textile and garment, cloths, food and beverage, cosmetic, household goods, tourist service, telecommunication and electronics.

The fair which is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 3 draw 360 enterprises with over 600 stalls in the fields of household goods, food and beverage, textile and garment, handicraft, cosmetic and others.

Deputy Director of the Department of Domestic Market Nguyen Loc An said that the event is aimed to boost Vietnamese goods and becomes an essential demand stimulation program.

Over past 10 years, the sales promotion month fair has contributed to affirm Vietnamese product quality and enhance the prestige of Vietnamese goods’ brandnames with the aim of intensifying exports. The program’s expenditure reached VND 2, 200 billion.

On the occasion, the HCMC Department of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the People’s Committee and economic agencies over 24 districts in city have implemented promotional activities such discount, offering gifts and drawing lots to receive gift.

On the same day, Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co-op Mart) opened a “Proud of Vietnamese Goods 2015” program with its total investment capital of VND 180 billion.

The sale promotion program applied for discounting on types of Vietnam high quality goods and fresh agricultural products.

Director of Marketing of Saigon Co.op Vo Hoang Anh said that the program included seven promotional activities like discounting up to 50 percents for essential items, buying Vietnamese good to receive special gifts, Vietnam agricultural product week and others.  

Currently, Big C supermarket system has also launched promotional programs to mark National Day.
