HCMC leaders visit autistic, disabled child residence

A delegation led by Than Thi Thu, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education, yesterday visited Khai Tri special education school in Cu Chi District where raise 105 autistic kids.

Khai Tri center has two schools. One set up in 2010 at 214/25F Dien Bien Phu Street in Binh Thanh District teaches mentally ill kids aged two to ten.
The other in Cu Chi District is for disabled kids aged ten to 18.
The two schools are well-equipped to meet students’ activities and studying demand.
In December 2017, 230 students in both schools integrated into the community as they could make friends with others and helped their weak peers. Their social skills and self management skills improved much through courses in the schools.
On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Thu commended the schools’ contribution in educating special children for years. She expected the schools to continue its deed to help unfortunate kids integrate into the community.
Additionally, she extended Tet greetings to students and teaching staffs as well as presented 126 gifts each VND500,000 and cash of VND60 million.
On the same day, Ms. Thu and the delegation continued the trip to Thien Phuoc Charity House, acting under the Catholic Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, in Cu Chi where 32 disabled children and disabled orphans reside.
Sharing difficulties with the house, Ms. Thu expected the house to admit more unlucky children in its open arm contributing to build the smart and modern city.
On the occasion, Ms. Thu gave gifts and cash of VND60 million to the house.
