HCMC launches dengue, Zika prevention campaign

The Department of Health yesterday launched  a campaign to prevent dengue and diseases caused by Zika virus in District 8

The movement is a response to the seventh Asian Dengue Day 2017.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Director of the Department Dr. Nguyen Tan Binh said that this year campaign was organized one month earlier than previous years because of unpredictable weather.

Activities in the campaign include persuading people to eradicate water containers where mosquitoes can lay eggs into to kill its larva. The city will hold information campaign against dengue and diseases caused by Zika virus by riding bicycles around

the city to catch locals’ eyes, posters, information place in residential blocks.   

Along with campaign to kill mosquito and its larva and cleaning schools and houses in districts every week and in dengue “hot spots”, city authorities will concentrate on increasing information and issuing penalties on violations as per the medicine law.
