The Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong and his Deputy Chairman Le Van Khoa with representatives of people’s committees in districts yesterday toured to district 1 to check sorting out household waste
Mr. Phong emphasized local administrations need to patient in encouraging people to actively sort out waste contributing to protect environment and develop economic value. The mission team also arrived at alley No. 25 in Nguyen Binh Khiem Street where 96 households have sorted out waste as piloted program is carried out successfully.
As per the alley representative, most households in the alley agreed to classify household waste including Biodegradable waste and other types of waste.
Yet the District 1 Public Welfare Service One-Member Company said that just 91/96 households often separate waste and 60/91 abide by the requirements. After four year implementation of the program, it achieved little success because of people’s low awareness and limited expense.
Mr. Phong noted that it needs to increase information of waste sorting benefit to raise people’s awareness, concerted efforts of residents and government, private waste collecting company along with the Public Welfare Service Company in sorting out waste.
In the period 2017 -2018, each district will select one ward to carry out the pilotted program to learn the lesson.
The program aim is to convert waste into resource to push the city’s economic development.
