HCMC, French businesses seeking urban traffic development cooperation

Deputy chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen yesterday worked with a French business delegation in the traffic and urban railway field led by French Consul General to HCMC Vincent Floreani to exchange and learn about cooperation and investment opportunities in the city.

At the meeting, Mr. Tuyen expressed gladness to the good development in the relationship between Vietnam and France in general and between HCMC and French localities in particular, especially in celebration of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of strategic partnership between the two countries.
Stressing the cooperation potential between the two sides, Mr. Tran Vinh Tuyen said that investment scale of French businesses in HCMC ranked 17th in the total of 92 nations and territories investing in the city. That was inappropriate with the traditional political and cultural relationship between Vietnam and French.
Appreciating the attention and cooperation goodwill of the French business delegation, Mr. Tuyen hoped the visit to open cooperation potential between HCMC and French firms, especially in urban traffic development field, which the city has paid much heed to and hoped to receive cooperation from foreign firms. City leaders committed to facilitating French firms’ cooperation and investment in fields which the two sides pay attention to.
On behalf of French companies, Mr. Vincent Floreani thanked city leaders for trusting French businesses and assisting them to carry out some part projects of the first metro line project Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien as well as some projects in waterway and airway fields in the city.
Sharing cooperation potential between the two sides, Mr. Vincent Floreani affirmed that traffic development is an important cooperation field and typical of Vietnam-France strategic cooperation relations.
The delegation comprises representatives of 14 large companies in France from traffic field, sharing their attention in the city’s direction to develop metro system and other transport types.
The French firms introduced techniques, services, machines and equipment in urban traffic field and some smart traffic management technologies.
They affirmed that they have enough technical level, technology, experience and potential in urban traffic development and hoped to work with HCMC in metro and urban railway projects, bring field relevant knowledge, techniques and experiences to assist HCMC and Vietnam to develop.
