HCMC calls for investment in 210 projects of infrastructure

Speaking at the conference to call for investment in 210 projects in Ho Chi Minh City held by Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) and the Department of Planning and Investment, Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan said HCMC is seeking potential investors in infrastructure via 210 projects.

However, Mr. Nhan stressed the city also needs investors in high –tech production and in the field of applications relating to artificial-intelligence.
He pointed out advantages of investing in HCMC. Above all, the city has 9.5 million people with average income of more than $6,000, 2.5 times higher than the income average of the whole country.
Moreover, on one hand, investors can easily connect with other investors in neighboring provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau , Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An and and Tien Giang within the distance of 100 kilometer, establishing the southern major economic zone with the population of 20 million which will be potential market.
On the other hand, HCMC is the best market which consumes high quality products and services.
Approximately, 150,000 graduates from universities and colleges provide the city labor market annually, who are skilled workers in the labor force, said Mr. Nhan.
Additionally, HCMC authorities have plan to support enterprises by organizing periodic talks to dwellers and firms to remove difficulties. Along with this, the city authorities are establishing new mechanism to provide land for investors to form urban and service parks. In 2019, HCMC will also build new 600-ha industrial zones for hi-tech firms.
Regarding traffic congestions, HCMC Party Chief Nhan said that the city has gradually developed to tackle the problem by implementing six metro lines as well as flyovers and ring belts paths. HCMC is racing to finish metro line Ben Thanh-Tham Luong as well as operate its first metro Ben Thanh- Suoi Tien in 2012.
HCMC is working with related agencies to complete ring belts particularly and traffic infrastructure generally.
He also shared the city’s volunteering strategies in “intellectual economic “ growth, digital economy, innovative urban areas and happy residents. First of all, the city will speed up construction of smart urban which include management center, socio-economic forecast and simulation center, data base center and information security center.
Next, the city will invest in developing smart education, smart medicine, smart traffic and smart tourism.
Mr. Nhan pointed out that HCMC is one of cities with good telecommunication infrastructure and volunteer in digitalizing its natural resources. What is more, the city is focusing on forming an innovative district in the East of Ho Chi Minh City aiming to create nucleus for digital economy and “ intellectual economy”.
To help promoting program, leaders of agencies and experts have paid visits to German’s well-known centers applying artificial intelligence and Netherland’s innovative urban areas to study.
Last but not least, Mr. Nhan said that city authorities also take heed of building a greener city and residents’ houses. However, because of its limited budget, the city needs join hand of enterprises.
