HCMC architecture planner encourages residents to invest in urban renewing

In its document submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture proposed encouraging city dwellers to pour investment in urban renewal projects in the Northwestern part of the city.

Deputy Head of the Department Nguyen Thanh Toan said in addition to land compensation and clearance policies, the submission also mentioned encouragement of investment in urban renewal projects for sustainable development of the urban areas and the construction of synchronous infrastructure to improve the city’s face.
In the submission to the city People’s Committee on the detailed zoning plan of the 1:5000 scale after collecting opinions from district administrations, the department proposed placing high buildings along major traffic highways such as the National Highway No. 22, the metro line Ben Thanh- Tham Luong and lower buildings are located behind.
Moreover, according to the Department, garden cottages should locate in the area bordering with Dong canal and canals No. 5, 6, 7, 8 to create open space while high buildings will be behind them.
Additionally, roads along canals will be linked with other roads to facilitate residents' travel.
The department suggested making best use of vacant land to plant tree for the rich greenery of grass and trees as well as converting empty land into sport stadiums.
Last but not least, the department will renew available residential quarters but not disturb residents’ life and build resettlement areas.
The Northwestern part welcomes green industry investors who apply high techniques and services, he said.
Besides, the department will continue the international university city project to reduce pressure on traffic infrastructure in the city’s downtown, contributing to pushing up the growth in the Northwestern part of the city.
