HCMC approves VND500 billion for dyke fortification

The People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City has approved project of fortifying and upgrading the embankment system along rivers and canals at a total capital of VND492 billion (US$23.23 million) in 2014-2015.

The embankment system will be upgraded to hold back high tide, prevent landslide and create rural traffic roads.

Works will concentrate in suburban districts such as Thu Duc, Nha Be, Can Gio, Binh Thanh, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and 12 where several areas are usually flooded by the tide.
