HCM City ready for cooperation, development, regional prosperity

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang hosted a reception on March 6 for President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB),Jin Liqun who was on a working visit to Viet Nam.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang hosted a reception on March 6 for President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB),Jin Liqun who was on a working visit to Viet Nam.

The city’s leader emphasized infrastructure's important role in the national economic development. Thus, the city is willing to cooperate with international financial institutions, including the AIIB, bringing benefits to the  both sides and regional prosperity.

He said that Ho Chi Minh City will need about US$50 billion for infrastructure development between now and 2030. The municipal government will welcome the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support investors to deploy their projects in the city.

Mr. Jin Liqun for his part said that AIIB wants to work with Ho Chi Minh City in in tacking urban issues, such as traffic congestion and waste treatment.

He also pledged to study to grant preferential treatment for city’s private enterprises engaging in infrastructure development.

On the same day, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang received Mr. Edwin M. Lee, Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco.

The two sides will enhance information flow and exchanges on investment environment and business opportunities as well as creating advantage for enterprises of the two countries to meet and work directly.
