A high-level delegation from Ho Chi Minh City led by Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam and HCM City Mayor paid a visit to Laos on April 10.
During the visit from April 10-14, the delegation will sign a memorandum of understanding with Vientiane City to upgrade the Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh City Friendship High School.
The delegation will also discuss with the city leaders the various ways to deal with obstacles for attracting HCM city businesses investing outside.
As of now, the two sides have implemented many projects in Laos, such as the Saplast-Vientiane Plastic Factory invested by Saigon Plastic JSC with a capital of US$1.3 million and Saigon Agriculture Corporation, which held a training course for workers in Laos and offered a food-processing machine worth $13,500 to Laos.
The city youth also implemented a project to plant 10,000 hectares of rubber trees in Champasac Province in Laos.
On the traditional New Year in Laos, a delegation led by Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, members of the People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City visited the Consulate General of Laos in HCM City.
