The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport yesterday inaugurated Go Dua Bridge to open 11 out of 13.6 kilometers of Tan Son Nhat-Binh Loi outer belt road or Pham Van Dong road to traffic.
The inaugurated branches are on the direction from Thu Duc district to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and from Nguyen Kiem roundabout to Truong Son Road.
These two items had been slowed with site clearance.
The branch from Nguyen Kiem roundabout bordering Tan Binh and Go Vap districts to Linh Xuan Intersection in Thu Duc had been opened to traffic since the last February.
The 13.6 kilometer long and 60m wide Pham Van Dong road has been built under BT form by South Koran GS Engineering & Construction.
Starting from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the 12 lane street goes through Tan Binh, Go Vap and Binh Thanh districts, crosses Saigon River to reach Thu Duc district before connecting with the National Highway 1A.
Total investment capital is estimated at VND2,915 billion (US$131.32 million) comprising VND7.5 trillion for site clearance and removal of technical infrastructures.
The most important item of the 11 kilometers that have been opened to traffic is Binh Loi Bridge whose structure has been built in Vietnam for the first time requiring modern techniques.
Construction of two other sections of the road has been slowed by 17 households who have refused to remove from Hong Ha street in Tan Binh and Bach Dang street in Binh Thanh.
