City supports needy students, infants

Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has just approved to support tuition fee to students from ethnic minority families whose economy condition is below the poverty threshold for the academic year 2014-2015.

Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has just approved to support tuition fee to students from ethnic minority families whose economy condition is below the poverty threshold for the academic year 2014-2015.

Accordingly, the government will give VND690,000 (US$ 32.5) a month to a student for an academic year. Students will receive the amount of tuition fee support when they are pursuing learning in educational facilities.

In addition, the city authority also agreed to meal support for toddlers of low-income families in public and private preschools in the city for the academic year 2014-2015. The monthly support will be VND120,000 (US$ 5.6) for an infant in nine months.

The support will be taken from the state budget for education sector of the Department of Education and Training and People’s Committee’s annual fund.
