City marks 59th anniversary of Cuba's Revolution Day

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association yesterday afternoon co- held a solemn ceremony at the head office of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 59th anniversary of Cuba's Revolution Day (on January 1, 1959- 2018) and offer photo awards themed “Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Che Guevara's death”.

Speaking at the event, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam- Cuba Friendship Association Truong Thi Hien said that cooperation relations between Vietnam and Cuba have blossomed in the multifaceted fields in the previous years. 

Last year, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam- Cuba Friendship Association and its union branches collaborated with the Consulate General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City to kick off plentiful and meaningful activities attracting the participation of the city’s students, pupils and people; among these, there was photo competition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Che Guevara's death. 

Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Indira Lopez Arguelles believed that her country would continue overcome challenges in building a period of sustainable and prosperity socialism.  

She pledged to continue strengthening further economy, investment and trade cooperation ties between the two nations in the coming time. 

On the occasion, the organization board announced and offered a photography awards for 34 entries, including three- first prizes, six- second prizes, six- third prizes and 19 consolation prizes. 

Accordingly, the contest attracted the participation of 355 entries from students and pupils of primary, secondary, high schools and universities acorss over the country.
