City leaders send traditional New Year greetings to Laotian people

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang yesterday led a delegation of Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to visit and send traditional New Year greetings to staffs and officers working at the Lao Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Lao traditional New Year- Bunpimay festival (falling in 2562 according to the Buddhist calendar).

On behalf of the city leaders, Mr. Tran Luu Quang sent the best wishes to Laotian people, Party and State, highlighted the nation’s multifaceted achievements in previous years. Additionally, he said that the 2019 Bunpimay festival fell on Death Anniversary of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Vietnam.

Bunpimay is also known as the Water Fall Festival bringing wishes of coolness, prosperity and happiness. The city leader hoped that the spiritual value would spread widely, creating motivation for development and prosperity of the neighboring country. 

Mr. Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the cooperation relationship and friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Ho Chi Minh City and Laos' localities. 

On behalf of Laotian people, Laotian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Ms. Phim-pha Kẹo-mi-xay thanked the Lao people and students living in Ho Chi Minh City for their support and assistance during the past years, and affirmed that the good relationship, friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos would be tighten further.  

On the same day, the city delegation joined a welcoming ceremony of Bumpimay festival.
