City leader receives new UNICEF Representative

Standing Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem yesterday received Ms. Rana Flowers, new representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Vietnam.

The city leader warmly welcomed Ms. Rana Flowers when she has officially taken up new duty in Vietnam; and he recalled cooperation relations between Vietnam and the organization via programs contributing to protection of Vietnamese children. 

Regarding “Children Innovate: Smart and Child-friendly City” workshop program being carried out by UNICEF in HCMC, Mr. Le Thanh Liem affirmed that the city leaders always make efforts to collaborate with UNICEF in carrying out the project to soon be recognized as a child-friendly city.

Ms. Rana Flowers praised effective cooperation between UNICEF and Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. 

In the forthcoming time, UNICEF will accompany with Ho Chi Minh City in the child-friendly city project as well as many other activities, aiming to solve challenges and contribute to effective implementation of child protection, care and education tasks, affirmed Ms. Rana Flowers.
