City leader meets delegation of US congressional assistant

Deputy Standing Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem yesterday received the United States congressional assistant delegation led by Ms. Natalie Rogers, Chief of Staff in the office of Senator Cory Gardener (Colorado) cum Chairman of Subcommittee on Asia-Pacific, United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

At the reception, the city leader said that Ho Chi Minh City welcomed the visits of the US congressional delegation and congressional assistant delegation to exchange the issues of economy, culture and society as well as foster dialogues between both two sides. 

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City faces difficulties and consequences of climate change, population growth, traffic jam and garbage treatment...; therefore, the locality has been continuing to call for foreign investors including the United States enterprises in the city’s development programs such as settling salt infiltration, flooding, garbage treatment into energy… in hopes of ensuring the city's fast and sustainable development.

Ten congressional assistants expressed their concernment about the city’s development; especially challenges and development opportunities of the city in the fields of socio- economic development, energy issue, human resources, anti-climate change, extreme weather, the impact of rising sea levels…
