The Department of Public Relations of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee announced on May 2 that it had mobilized 55,073 landlords in the City to agree not to raise rent of 393,277 rooms till the end of this year, which would guarantee the stability of nearly 1.1 million tenants.
The Department of Public Relations also requested the local government in each district to cooperate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front offices in districts to encourage other landlords to also cooperate.
Besides, the labor unions of all districts will ask businesses to support accommodation facilities for their employees, either by giving house allowance or by providing dormitory accommodation.
Saigon Water Corporation and the HCMC Power Corporation should collaborate with HCM Communist Youth Union to guide landlords to register for water and power usage meters for tenanted areas in their buildings. The HCMC Women’s Union is also expected to help female tenants in finding suitable rooms for rent.
