City celebrates Vietnam People’s Army anniversary

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan visited military units in the city on December 18 on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 25th anniversary of the All-People's Defense Festive Day.

The chairman expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the southern Naval High Command, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command, the Gia Dinh regime, and General Nguyen Thi Dinh’s family.

On the same day, Politburo member Nguyen Thi Thu Ha-Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, visited and congratulated military troops, including the Division 317 and Division 9 of Army Corps 4; Division 317 and Military School of Military Zone 7.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ranh, head of the HCMC Party Committee's Public Relations office also visited and presented gifts to Nguyen Hue University (former name of the Infantry Officers’ Training College No 2) in Dong Nai Province, and Long Dat Nursing Center for Wounded Soldiers and National Devotees in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC Vo Thi Dung congratulated officials and soldiers of  Tran Dai Nghia University or School of Military Engineering Officer Vinhempich; Army Engineers Officer School, Military Hospital 175; and families of Lt.Gen. Nguyen Thoi Bung and major general Tran Hai Phung on December 18.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City War Veterans Association offered 200 gifts to disadvantaged war veterans and ethnic minority Veterans.

Photo exhibitions celebrating 70 years of the Viet Nam People's Army opened at Ho Chi Minh City Youth’s Cultural House and Chi Lang Park.

Hundreds pictures honors President Ho Chi Minh; and depict activities of the Viet Nam People's Army in various fields, such as national defense, military training, the economy, society, culture; and Vietnamese soldiers in training, working, patrolling, helping the people and protecting national independence.
