Barge collision happens in Sai Gon River

No casualty was reported in the barge collision taking place yesterday in Sai Gon River.

At 1am yesterday, a 29 meter long barge No. 14139 carrying 224 tons of cement from the southern province of Dong Nai to An Ha bridge in Ho Chi Minh City’s Cu Chi district was collided with a barge No. SG 6939.
The collision resulted in sunk barge No.SG 6939 in the upper reaches of Phu My river in district 7.
As per crew Nguyen Van Mua of barge No.14139, there were three people in SG 6939 barge; luckily, they escaped death because they jumped to the river.
Immediately, river cops arrived in the scene to handle the incident.
On the same day, the retrieval of the sunk barge was conducted.
Further investigation will be carried out.
